University Admission Requirements

Students seeking regular admission to the SHU Graduate School must hold an undergraduate or advanced degree from an accredited institution. Students with other equivalent backgrounds may be admitted if they meet the prerequisites stated below. Formal application is required of all prospective domestic students, including graduates of Shanghai University, who seek admission to the Graduate School.

International Applicants

International students could apply from college of international education of Shanghai University. The application website is http://www.apply.shu.edu.cn/web/index.aspx. Directions are provided for completing the application online or by mail.

Precise Mechanical Engineering Admission Requirements

The PME Department admission requirements listed below supplement the Graduate School requirements.

Please note: only minimum requirements are listed here for reference purpose. Meeting the minimum requirements does NOT guarantee admission.

All students applying for admission to the Precise Mechanical Engineering Graduate Program must pass the English or Chinese Level Examination.

Master’s Degree Program

Students holding a bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering from a school accredited by the Accreditation Board for Engineering and Technology (ABET) are eligible for regular admission to graduate study in Mechanical Engineering.

Doctoral Degree Program

Students having a Master’s Degree in Mechanical Engineering from an accredited school are eligible for direct admission to graduate study in Mechanical Engineering.
